The Oil City Civic Center (OCCC) is excited to announce the receipt of a $60,000 grant from the PNC Charitable Trust. The grant has been allocated for aesthetic improvements to the National Transit Building’s Great Room as well as a new website to showcase the OCCC’s mission, advertise available rental spaces, and share the prominent history of the building.
“We are very thankful to the PNC Charitable Trust for their investment in the preservation of the National Transit Building. This grant allows us to undertake necessary renovations of the National Transit Building’s Great Room which will not only allow us to proudly advertise the improved space to potential renters, but contribute to the overall historical and visual integrity of the building. We are also thrilled to be able to move forward with a new website that will enhance our digital presence within the community,” said Vice Chair of the Oil City Civic Center, Patrick Pelletier.
The grant award follows the successful completion of critical emergency repairs which were funded by a $70,000 grant from the PNC Charitable Trust in 2022. After a lapse in maintenance during the Covid-19 pandemic, this award gave the OCCC vital funding for a variety of infrastructure repairs to be completed, ensuring that the building could successfully remain open.
“After a year of dedicating our efforts to keeping the building’s doors open, this year’s award enables us to capitalize on our revenue streams to contribute to the ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation of the National Transit Building, as well as really consider the long-term economic impact of the building on the community. Both the renovation and marketing aspects of this award will give us a strong foundation to move forward,” said Chair of the Oil City Civic Center, Cindy Woloszyn.
The OCCC provides affordable office spaces for non-profits and local for-profit businesses in the National Transit Building, while also remaining dedicated to maintaining its historical and structural integrity to benefit generations to come. Currently, the OCCC has several spaces available for rent in both the main building and in the Annex with Wifi accessibility.
